Imagination is more important than knowledge. For knowledge is limited whereas imagination embraces the entire world... -Albert Einstein

Boo! Boo boos :( and moving

This past month has been pretty busy for us. First off, we moved into a new house. We are very excited about our new place because there is a swimming pool, playground, business center, volleyball court and soon to be indoor raquetball and basketball court all available for us to use here. We are in a smaller space now but we like it. Here is a pic of the swimming pool:
We had a fun halloween. We dressed up as the Incredibles. Thanks to my Mom I was able to pull it off. I was really busy this month so she helped get some of the needed items together and made the insignia on the front of the costumes. Thanks MOM!!! We had alot of fun and got alot of stares.......seeing 5 people in red is kind of eye catching :) It was perfect though cause the Incredibles have Mr. Incredible (JC), Mrs. Incredible aka Elastigirl (Me), Dash (Tyler), Violet (Samantha) and Jack Jack (Caitlin). I would have to admit though, the funnest part was Caitlins hair. I used pipe cleaner (you know those fuzzy things you use for crafts with the bendy metal in them) to get it to stick up. I also learned my lesson never to use spray on hair color with a 4 year old. I was trying to make Manthas hair black and it ended up getting everywhere, she wouldn't stop touching her hair and it got all over her hands, shirt, face, you name it. Next time....I go for the wig.

So speaking of Caitlin........that leads us to the boo boos part of this blog.

Caitlin is my accident prone child. She has no fear and thinks she is able to do more than her body allows. This last weekend we went to go play at the playground and being the two year old that she is, she thought it would be funny to run the opposite direction we were walking. She went straight for this nice set of cement stairs. She was running up these knowing that I was not too far behind and as usual was looking backwards while running......this led her too running into the stairs rather than up them. The result:
A good bonk on the head. She ran into the stairs basically. She turned her head forward just in time to face plant on the next step. When I picked her up the bump looked pretty scary.....it was like her head was indented. We decided to take her to the ER and get her checked out. She would not stay awake because of this nice bonk on the head. At the ER we confirmed our suspicions that she had a concusion. After being there for a couple hours they decided to tranfer her to the childrens hospital to stay there overnight. At this point she had been sleeping for about three hours and was not arousable (we couldn't keep her awake). They kept checking her eyes to see if they would dialate and sometimes it took a couple tries but eventually they would. JC went with her in the ambulance, she slept most of the way up to the childrens hospital while Me, Tyler and Samantha followed the ambulance behind in the car. By the time we figured out which room they had put her in, Caitlin was in there wide awake, coloring on the bed and happy to see us. What a relief it was to see her awake and smiling. We ended up not having to stay at the hospital overnight cause she recovered so quickly. (Kids are amazing!) She always finds a way to bounce back :)

The other thing that amazed me about that day was how concerned Samantha and Tyler were for their baby sister. I tried not to worry them too much and told them the whole time that everything was going to be fine and Caitlin just got a little bump on the head, but the moment they saw the EMT guys come in and strap her onto the gurney and put her in the ambulance they were so upset. Both of them had tears running down their faces and were so upset and concerned about their sister. It was a sad and happy moment for me, knowing that my baby was hurt but that her siblings love her so much and couldn't imagine their life without her.

Throughout all the craziness of the last few weeks I have to say how grateful I am for my family. It has been a tuff few weeks and sometimes it is the strength of my amazing children that keep me going and get me through the day.
